Field guide 01 Body · mind · awareness

The Human
Operating System

The body is the machine. But you are not the machine.

Four conceptual parts, shown through five system views. Start with the picture; open the technical plates when you want the detail.

01 Start here

Three layers within.
Awareness outside.

Software can move now. Firmware moves through repetition. The body must be physically cared for. Awareness is the part that notices.

HOS / LAYER ARCHITECTUREConceptual depth ↓
  1. OUTSIDE
    The one holding the phone

    You / awareness

The part that notices the thought. Tethered to the system, not contained by it.

    Source of choice
  2. 01
    OS + apps

    Software

Thoughts, stories, attention, identity and the choices running right now.

    Moves quickly
  3. 02
    Defaults + boot logic

    Firmware

Habits, protective patterns and core beliefs that run before you get a vote.

    Moves through repetition
  4. 03
    Hardware + signal network

    Body

Flesh, bone, organs and bioelectric pathways. Physical—and full of needs.

    Must be cared for

Why five system views? Electrical signaling is part of the body layer. The atlas opens it separately so you can see how the physical system communicates.

Operator note The rule underneath the model

Strong body,
strong mind.

That’s been my bible.

I picked that up listening to the Rogan podcast. He had a guest on, I forget his name, he was Polish. It’s been my bible ever since.

The better I took care of my body, the stronger my mind would be. That’s the connection I started to build. Strong body is sleep, nutrition, and exercise, and sleep is probably the most critical.

This is what I’ve learned through receipts that I can demonstrate. I’ve got 45 years of receipts.

I’m not a doctor. I’m not a psychiatrist. I’m not a counselor. What I am is a pedigreed compliant patient. There’s a time and a place for the experts and you should trust them. Nothing here is advice.

Recognition Name it after you feel it

You already know this system.

The technical name comes second. Your experience comes first.

Body

“You snapped at someone, then realised you had not eaten since breakfast.”

The whole system was running in low-power mode.

Firmware

“You heard your parent’s exact tone come out of your mouth before you could stop it.”

An old default ran before conscious choice.

Software

“A thought arrived and hijacked you in the middle of something else.”

A notification took over the foreground.

You

“You noticed the thought while it was happening.”

Whatever noticed it was not the thought.

02 The atlas

Build the model
one view at a time.

Seven plates: five system views, plus an orientation key and the integrated whole. Each one has a single job; the dense reference stays available when you want to inspect it.

Plate 01

The comparison key

What maps, what only partly maps, and where the metaphor stops.

Blueprint comparison key mapping a familiar device to the human system, with holds, partial matches and breaks clearly marked.

Integrated concept art showing a luminous higher self connected to a human body through heart, brain and an energy bridge.

Worldview The part no circuit diagram can hold

Not just data.
A living connection.

This is concept art for the author’s spiritual model: consciousness as the one experiencing the system, not a process produced by it. You can decline this belief and still use the body, firmware and software model.

03 The two paths

Patterns travel down.
Change writes back.

One path happened slowly and mostly without permission. The other uses the same layers in the other direction. Neither works like a one-time patch.

The automatic path

How a default gets installed

The story was reasonable when it formed. Repetition is what pushed it deeper.

  1. 01Need
  2. 02Story
  3. 03Repetition
  4. 04Default
Blueprint showing an unmet need becoming a story, being reinforced, and eventually running as an automatic default.

The deliberate path

How change writes back

Not a reset. Awareness and repeated action slowly change what runs automatically.

  2. 02Intention
  3. 03Action
  4. 04Integration
Blueprint showing awareness, intention, practice and repetition becoming embodied integration and updated defaults.

THE DIFFERENCE

A device takes a patch once. A person changes through practice.

“I will not make this diagnosis my identity. And I will not let it define who I am.”
Spencer Thornock / written in his journal after the diagnosis

04 Where it breaks

The failures are
part of the model.

A comparison becomes dangerous when it pretends to explain everything. These three breaks keep the map useful without turning a person into a device.

Break 01

A battery never gets hungry.

Device
A battery stores power.
Human
A body has needs—and those needs generate motivation.
Break 02

There is no factory reset.

Device
A device can return to a clean install.
Human
A person carries memory, experience and conditioning forward.
Break 03

Consciousness is not data.

Device
A network carries information.
Human
In this model, awareness is the source of experience and meaning.
Blueprint showing three limits of the computer comparison: bodies have needs, people cannot factory reset, and consciousness is not data.
Plate 10 · the map checks itselfOpen full plate

The comparison is a map, not the territory.

Use it to understand, not to dehumanize.
Model notesWhat this drawing does not decide
  • Consciousness as the person holding the phone. This remains a belief-level proposal; the functional layers do not depend on accepting it.
  • Candidate breaks. Reconstructive memory, limited conscious control, and the fact that something is at stake for a person remain open rather than quietly settled.
  • Inherited knowledge through DNA. This is outside mainstream biology and does not appear in the diagrams.

05 Future seed

The next question:
is the mind predicting?

Prompt, context, prediction, output, feedback. This final plate is a pointer to the next inquiry—not another layer in the Human OS.

06 From model to life

Everyone
has folds.

Everyone has wounds. Everyone has these deep creases. Everyone has folds. That’s the whole metaphor of the Ouchie Origami thing.

You start with this blank piece of paper and then you fold it, and that’s an experience that adds a crease to your life. Then over time you have to unfold the paper to really take a look at where it happened, and what happened.

The name started as my Instagram handle, my name for my jiu-jitsu stuff. It was a joke.

Operator dossier Not an expert

Learn something, master it, turn it around and teach it to others.

That’s been the mantra of my life.

The people who know me know the high performer, black belt, and builder of systems. The healing is something I don’t share with too many people. I’m working to marry the two versions of myself, because everyone is dealing with something and everyone needs evidence they can look to that it can be okay.

My mission in this life right now has been to show up for others, because I’ve been able to get through some extremely difficult things myself.

The minute someone says everyone should be doing this, turn around and go the other way. Unsubscribe, unfollow. We’re all different.
